Christopher Nolan’s Inception destroys the box office competition

All I’ve heard since Friday is how f*cking amazing Christopher Nolan’s INCEPTION is, as everyone (and I mean everyone) who has seen it practically gets on all fours and blows about how awesome it is, slapping it with 4 stars across the board. Which makes it extra nice to see it do really well at the box office.

Considering no one knew anything about this movie a month ago (even 2 weeks ago the buzz was dark), and considering it’s an original film (not a remake or a sequel), it tastes even sweet to hear that not only did it take the number one spot, but it annihilated the competition.

The estimated numbers for INCEPTION is $60.1M, followed by DESPICABLE ME at $32.7M (almost half as much), with THE SORCERER’S APPRENTICE (the only other new release this week) with a super-weak $17.3M. Wow. That’s just embarrassing. Maybe Disney will start rethinking hiring Nic Cage to star in every f*cking movie they produce…

Whether INCEPTION will go on to do numbers along the lines of THE DARK KNIGHT remains to be seen, but what is apparent is this: Nolan f*cking delivers with everything film he makes these days, which means I can’t f*cking wait to see what else he has up his sleeves for BATMAN 3.

Scroll below for the rest of the top 10 box office numbers (nice to see THE LAST AIRBENDER and ECLIPSE dropping like flies, though I wish PREDATORS was doing better), and have a drink on INCEPTION this fine Monday morning for doing such a bang-up job.
