Disney moving forward with new Gargoyles flick?

Now before people start throwing things at their computer screen let me tell you guys that this new project doesn’t seem to have anything at all to do with the “Gargoyles” cartoon Disney threw at us in the 90s. So calm down folks. Actually from what I can tell this new project is looking like a live-action take on the darker side of Gargoyles. Or at least as dark as you can get from Disney.

The news coming in from The Hollywood Reporter’s Heat Vision blog has Disney currently in talks with scribe Zoe Green about penning a feature Gargoyle film. The untitled project seeks to build a mythology around the carvings, originally designed in medieval times to act as spouts but later took on roles as powerful symbols to ward off or attract evil. The story is being developed, but it is known to be set in modern times.

Now that’s basically all we’ve got to go one for now so go ahead and take from that what you will. Maybe in today’s Hollywood a live-action Gargoyle flick would be pretty cool? And of course I think it’s safe to say this thing will most likely end up in 3D, whether we want it to or not. Of course most of this is speculation, as that’s all we’ve really got to go on right now. What says you guys? Hit us with your thoughts below and keep it here for more on this Gargoyle project as we hear it!
