The last update we got on Jon Favreau’s COWBOYS & ALIENS came a couple weeks ago, when we learned that PREDATORS star Walton Goggins would be joining the cast. Well here we are, less than a month later with more casting news on the project!
Thankfully today’s udpate has another gorgeous female joining the cast! According to The Hollywood Reporter’s Heat Vision blog, star of the hit series “Mad Men” Abigail Spencer is the newest name joining Favreau’s sci-fi adventure! Making her studio feature debut, Spencer (right) will star as ‘a prostitute named Alice, a former lover of Craig’s character who makes him change his ways.’ Not a bad way to break into film, huh? Hey, a gorgeous actress like Spencer playing a prostitute in the Old West? Sign me up!
1873. Arizona Territory. A stranger with no memory of his past stumbles into the hard desert town of Absolution. The only hint to his history is a mysterious shackle that encircles one wrist. What he discovers is that the people of Absolution dont welcome strangers, and nobody makes a move on its streets unless ordered to do so by the iron-fisted Colonel Dolarhyde. Its a town that lives in fear.
But Absolution is about to experience fear it can scarcely comprehend as the desolate city is attacked by marauders from the sky. Screaming down with breathtaking velocity and blinding lights to abduct the helpless one by one, these monsters challenge everything the residents have ever known.
Now, the stranger they rejected is their only hope for salvation. As this gunslinger slowly starts to remember who he is and where hes been, he realizes he holds a secret that could give the town a fighting chance against the alien force. With the help of the elusive traveler Ella, he pulls together a posse comprised of former opponentstownsfolk, Dolarhyde and his boys, outlaws and Apache warriorsall in danger of annihilation. United against a common enemy, they will prepare for an epic showdown for survival.
The film sports an amazing cast that includes Daniel Craig, Olivia Wilde (below), Harrison Ford, Sam Rockwell, Adam Beach, Noah Ringer, Clancy Brown, Paul Dano, Keith Carrdine and now Abigail Spencer. Seriously, with a director like Jon Favreau behind a cast like that, how is this thing not going to be amazing?
COWBOYS & ALIENS is currently filming looking at a July 29, 2011 release date.
