More and more films are being lined up for the 43rd SITGES International Fantastic Film Festival of Catalonia, and the one that has everyone talking is Guillem Morales’s LOS OJOS DE JULIA, which was just announced to help kick-off the entire SITGES Film Festival!

Produced by Guillermo del Toro, LOS OJOS DE JULIA has been picking up speed and gaining a stellar word of mouth, and now it’s opening up SITGES. Very nice! But what’s the flick about, anyway? Check it:

[LOS OJOS DE JULIA is] the terrifying odyssey of a woman (Belén Rueda) suffering from a degenerative eye disease who is obsessed with finding out the truth behind her twin sister’s death.

Sounds just a bit bizarre with the whole eye disease angle, but interesting at the same time. And as it was given the prestigious honor of opening up SITGES, my guess is that it’s pretty damn good.

SITGES kicks off October 7th and rages through the 17th, and will include the presence of other genre films, such as Matt Reeves’ LET ME IN (the U.S. remake of LET THE RIGHT ONE IN). For more information on the festival itself, click HERE, and stick around for more updates from SITGES as we hear them!
