DJ Caruso’s teenage alien yarn I AM NUMBER FOUR continues casting, and we’ve learned from MTV today that PERCY JACKSON star Jake Abel (seen right) has been thrown into the mix. Y’all bursting with excitement, or what?

Don’t quite recall what the flick’s all about? No sweat, we got ya:

Nine alien teens come to Earth after their planet is destroyed by an enemy species. But soon discover that their enemy is now after them on Earth.

Not sure about you, but I need a more compelling breakdown than that to wanna see the flick. Just sayin…

Able, who propelled onto the acting scene in 2005, has starred in various fare including ANGEL OF DEATH, Peter Jackson’s THE LOVELY BONES and the TV show “Supernatural.” In I AM NUMBER FOUR, he joins the likes of Alex Pettyfer (who plays the titular lead), Timothy Olyphant (who replaced Sharlto Copley), Dianna Agron, Teresa Palmer (below) and Kiri Stevens.

Abel will play Mark, one of Pettyfer’s social rivals. Here’s what he had to say about his character:

“Mark is a football player at the school and he’s skeptical of [Pettyer’s Number Four] because he’s trying to move in on his ex-girlfriend. He’s the high school jock who’s just loaded with insecurities. He masks them with his bravado and intimidation, but he’s threatened because this new kid is coming to school and there’s a lot of attention on him. A lot is happening around him.”

“Smallville” creators Alfred Gough and Miles Millar adapted the script from the James Frey/Jobie Hughes novel. Michael Bay and Steven Spielberg are producing.
