According to THR, UNDERWORLD: RISE OF THE LYCANS director Patrick Tatopoulos is in talks to direct a little eco-horror flick called THE COLONY for Summit Entertainment. THE COLONY would be Tatoppoulos’s follow-up to LYCANS, squeezed in right before I, FRANKENSTEIN is ready for lensing sometime next year.

Eco-horror? Is this a soft sequel to THE HAPPENING? Because if it is, where the hell can I sign up? Oh wait, that’d be too good to be true, and we’d need M. Night’s eye and Marky Mark’s acting chops to make that work anyway. So what’s THE COLONY all about? Check it:

A group of survivors are forced underground by the next ice age. There, they must fight to preserve humanity against a savage threat.

So it’s like THE DESCENT, but with ice and stuff. I can dig it, yo! Actually, given Tatoppoulos’s background in special effects, I bet some really cool creatures show up down there in a fight to the finish.

I think I dug RISE OF THE LYCANS more than the other UNDERWORLD movies, so I’m interested to see what else Tatoppoulos has up his sleeve. Stick around for more on THE COLONY as it breaks!
