Strike one up for the kiwi!
To me, Jemaine Clement (seen right) will always be one half of the comic duo known as The Flight of the Conchords. Yes, I know dude has been toiling in indie flicks since his show took off on HBO, namely DIAGNOSIS DEATH and GENTLEMAN BRONCOS, but I still long for a 3rd season of “FOC.” Well, looks like Clement’s adding an A-list blockbuster to resume, as Deadline Hollywood has confirmed he will star in Barry Sonnenfeld’s MEN IN BLACK 3D!
Clement, who’ll next be seen in Jay Roach’s DINNER FOR SCHMUCKS, apparently won the role over Sacha Baron Cohen, who we reported back in March had been catching the eye of Columbia to play the villainous character Yaz. Like I said, score one for the New Zealander!
Clement joins Will Smith, Tommy Lee Jones and Josh Brolin. The foursome will work from a script by Etan Cohen, which has since been polished by David Koepp.
But let’s hear it, gang. You dig this bit of casting, or would you have preferred to see Baron Cohen as this Yaz character? Is there someone else entirely you’d rather see kickin’ it around with Tommy, Josh and Big Willy?
