Mel Brooks is a legend in this industry. Comedy god, comedic genius, the godfather of comedy… call Mel Brooks what you will, there’s no doubt the man is talented. So you can bet your ass we here at AITH got excited when we heard Brooks was planning to produce a serious horror flick called PIZZAMAN!
That’s right ladies and gentlemen! Almost two years ago we first got word on this potentially genius project… but we’ve heard absolutely nothing since! What a tease, huh? Well today we’ve finally got an inkling of an update on PIZZAMAN via a recent interview Variety had with Mr. Brooks:
“‘Pizzaman’ is a flat-out horror film that I’ll keep my name away from, in case people think it’s a comedy…”
Apparently PIZZAMAN is the only feature Brooks and his BrooksFilms shingle have lined up, so hopefully we’ll be hearing more about this one soon! But come on… do we really need Brooks to keep his name off this thing? Sure people are going to immediately think comedy when they see ‘Brooks’ but that name would also be a huge draw, especially in the same sentence as ‘serious horror film.’ At least that’s this schmuck’s opinion.
