Well here’s a nice juicy piece of news coming from The Hollywood Reporter’s Heat Vision blog: It seems Paramount are moving forward with a third RING movie! That’s right ladies and gentlemen, THE RING 3 … in 3D! Time to get excited!

Or not. This announcement has kind of thrown me for a loop… It’s something I wasn’t expecting at all, but then again it does make a lot of sense. Countless films have been talked about in the past couple years, some that are actually getting made while others remain pipe dreams. A third installment to the successful RING franchise was never really touched upon. Until now.

At the same time, it does make a lot of sense doesn’t it? I mean with the whole 3D-reboot craze hitting Hollywood and how successful THE RING was, this seems like a no-brainer! Did I mention THE RING 3D will be a reboot of sorts as well? Oh no? Well it will. Are you excited yet?!

Seriously folks, I’m not pulling your chain here. Apparently Paramount just tapped David Loucka to pen THE RING 3D. That’s not all, they’ve asked the writer to make the film ‘more teen-centric than the first, and though the logline is being kept under wraps, the aim is to reinvent the franchise. One potential scenario involves teens finding a VHS player that still works.’

Alright… I actually dig that idea. A group of kids finding an old VCR player and having a good laugh only to find that dreaded tape inside? That could actually be cool. Unfortunately considering this is aiming at the whole ‘teen-centric’ audience it’ll probably be rated PG-13 and aimed towards the TWI-crowd. Then again THE RING was PG-13 and was actually pretty damn good. So perhaps there could be something here?

What do you guys think? This is definitely a topic that should garner some opinons out there, right! Hit us with your thoughts below and keep it here for more on THE RING 3D as we hear it!
