In a world filled with horror remakes, reboots, rehashes, and rip-offs, it’s nice to see there are still a few good original ideas floating out there, and some of these ideas are even getting made into full-fledged movies.

According to THR’s Heat Vision Blog, the spec script for SUSPENSION has been optioned by producers Daniel Alter and Adrian Askarieh, and from all accounts, this badboy is aiming to kick all kinds of ass. Written by Scott Milam, the story goes a little something like this: set in the German Alps, a raging fire burns and a rescue helicopter is forced to make an emergency landing on an old suspension bridge. Trapped, the passengers’ hope for survival or to go up in flames as they face a new kind of creature.

That. Sounds. Fan-f*cking-tastic! And what’s even better is that UNDERWORLD: RISE OF THE LYCANS director Patrick Tatopoulos is already attached to direct. Just think of the potential this flick has for knocking our socks off. What kind of creature are we talking about here? An entire movie set on a suspension bridge in the middle of the German alps? It’s like CLIFFHANGER meets JAWS, and who wouldn’t want a piece of that?

Robert Sanchez (of IESB.net) and Milam are set to produce as well. No word on a start date for SUSPENSION, but we can only assume it’ll happen after I, FRANKENSTEIN wraps, as Tatopoulos is set to direct that as well.
