It seems a hot topic here on AITH is the upcoming HALLOWEEN 3D. The 11th overall film in the franchise, and third in this saga, is always a juicy topic for discussion so we try and bring you all every update we come across on the project. Today we happen to have just that! And it’s a pretty stacked update too… Sort of.

You see director Patrick Lussier, who’s currently attached to direct HALLOWEEN 3D, recently chatted a bit with MTV and decided to let everyone know what’s really been going on:

“We were ready to go with that last year, and then their situation changed, and then we weren’t. The film that we [Lussier and scribe Todd Farmer] wrote took place, like, the next frame after Rob [Zombie]’s ‘Halloween II’ ended and immediately went into stripping Michael Myers back to his John Carpenter roots. That’s what we did very quickly. And then you pick up the story a year later as Halloween rolls around again. Everybody’s back in the fray. That was our goal.”

Wait… so Carpenter’s Michael Myers in Zombie’s Haddonfield? That actually sounds pretty cool… Everyone was expecting this one to stand alone from Zombie’s two films but alas that’s not the case. At least that explains Scout Taylor-Compton (below) being confirmed for the flick along with Tom Atkins. What do you think? Would you like to see a different take on Myers continue the story Zombie started? I can see it working… but then again it just doesn’t seem to fit. Oh the madness.

Lussier goes on to say whether he’s still in line to direct the feature, stating: “That’ll all depend on Dimension Films and timing.” Though it seems the director isn’t very optimistic. Right now Lussier is hard at work on DRIVE ANGRY 3D so I doubt he’ll be putting any thought into HALLOWEEN 3D, or any other project for that matter, in the near future. As soon as we hear more on HALLOWEEN 3D you’ll be the first to know!
