Actor Jay Baruchel really cannot wait to jump into our beloved genre can he? The comedy actor has been making ends meet with flicks like KNOCKED UP and SHE’S OUT OF MY LEAGUE but the young filmmaker’s passion lies in horror. We already know that, considering Baruchel is currently working on a slasher flick. But that’s not the only genre flick Baruchel hopes to bring to us in the near future!
I’m talking about JAY AND SETH VERSUS THE APOCALYPSE! Now chances are you’ve heard about this one before but it’s been a while since we’ve heard anything regarding the horror/comedy. That changes today! The guys over at MTV recently chatted a bit with Baruchel about his upcoming film HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON, thankfully the topic quickly turned to JAY AND SETH. What did Baruchel have to say about the project? Check it:
“I’m not gonna– I know better than to make any promises that are going to make me or Seth [Rogen] look bad. This is something we both very much want to do, which would be the two of us in LA when the world ends, basically. Playing ourselves. …. It could definitely be in 3-D. Two sarcastic Canadians talking s–t to each other during the apocalypse.”
Now I dig most of Baruchel’s work while at the same time I’m not really a fan of Rogen’s, but regardless this thing sounds like absolute genius! So what’s the deal with JAY AND SETH? Well I’ll let Baruchel explain it himself:
“Rogen and I were in this short film years ago that we made with our friend Jason Stone who graduated from film school at USC. We put the trailer for the short on YouTube and it got a bunch of hits in the first week and we had different studios in LA saying ‘We’d like to see this as a feature.'”
