Back at the beginning of March we learned that THE THING reboot we’ve got coming are way will in fact be a prequel, rather than a remake. Well I’d say that’s some pretty good news, right? If you’re looking for some more info to help you feel comfortable about this project, perhaps today’s update will help?

You see The LA Times recently chatted a bit with THING producers Marc Abraham and Eric Newman, and what did the two gentlemen spill? Well they give us a better idea of what story will be told in THE THING and explain why they choose director Matthijs Van Heijningen Jr, among other things.

“That’s the story we tell in this film. We go back to that original Norwegian camp and try to figure out what happened. It’s like a crime scene, with an ax in the door, and the audience gets to be the detective, trying to piece together what horrible things have occurred.”

That’s Abraham’s explanation of the film and I’m loving it! We also learn that a number of unknowns have joined the cast alongside Joel Edgerton and Mary Elizabeth Winstead, mostly made up of actors from Australia, England, Canada and Norway. The Norwegian actors, who play the Norwegian scientists (duh), will actually be speaking Norwegian in their scenes, with English subtitles of course. Natch. You can head right over HERE to check out the rest of the article.

A Ph.D. candidate joins a Norwegian research team in Antarctica after it discovers an alien ship in the ice. When a trapped organism is freed and begins a series of attacks, she is forced to team with a blue-collar mercenary helicopter pilot to stop the rampage.
