For no apparent reason I’m a big fan of the HELLRAISER franchise. I’ve expressed my love for the series several times here at AITH. So with that in mind you can bet your ass I’m going to be telling you all about a HELLRAISER documentary in the works that I came across today. That’s right, you read that right. A HELLRAISER documentary! Nice! Hell I’d take a documentary over that remake anyday!
So what exactly is the deal with this documentary? The news is coming at us from ShockTillYouDrop, which reveals that Shock’s own Ryan Rotten will be penning the project, called UNEARTHED: THE HELLRAISER SAGA, with Stefan Hutchinson directing. But that isn’t the kicker folks! Clive Barker himself will actually be creating a brand new Cenobite for the feature!
Barker will chronicle the entire creation process, from conception to form, for a feature for the project. Also included will be ‘hours and hours of bonus features that delve into the Hellraiser films, comics and more.’ The documentary itself will run around 90 minutes. Producer Anthony Masi adds:
“This retrospective will be different than the ones we have done for other horror franchises, because the creator, Clive, will be imbuing the project with original and exclusive artwork that will help tell our story. This is something everyone is excited about. Clive’s work in the horror genre shares a unique vision that has many complex layers.”
Pretty damn cool huh? Hopefully UNEARTHED ends up pretty epic. Maybe I should calm down with the high expectations? Screw it. A HELLRAISER doc sounds great to me! What says you guys?
