Well Vin Diesel said it was going to happen, so is it a surprise to anyone that today Variety is confirming a third ‘Riddick’ film?!
That’s right folks. Universal is continuing The Chronicles of Riddick with the third live-action film in the franchse: RIDDICK. Ever since I seen PITCH BLACK I’ve been a huge fan of ‘Riddick,’ so you can definitely sign me up for another adventure!
David Twohy will be returning to write and direct RIDDICK, capping off his trilogy. Vin Diesel is also signed on and ready to go. Can’t have ‘Riddick’ without The Vin. There’s no word on an official plot for RIDDICK but word has it the third film will follow the gritty tone the first film had as opposed to THE CHRONICLES OF RIDDICK’s epic feel. Awesome.
Radar Films’ Ted Fields is producing along with Diesel and Samantha Vincent through their One Race Films banner. Universal are handling domestic distribution while Lionsgate will be selling international rights at the Berlin Film Festival. Hopefully RIDDICK heats up and we hear a lot more about this shite soon!
