We’ve known for a long while that Larry Fessenden and Dark Sky Films were planning the chilly horror tale HYPOTHERMIA, but only now do we know when it’s beginning production: Yesterday!
According to a press release issued by MPI Media Group, principal photography and production began on the James Felix McKenney film, with Michael Rooker, Blanche Baker, Greg Finley, Don Wood, Ben Forster and Amy Chang in the cast.
Here’s the official synopsis: The story takes place in Maine in the dead of winter. Ray Pelletier and his wife Helen have been ice fishing the frozen expanse of Lake Noyade for over two decades but this year something is different: no fish bite. Is it their new neighbors on the ice — Stevie Jr. and his overbearing Dad — with their high-tech gear and over-sized rig that is driving the fish away? Or is it something else? The answer comes in an onslaught of ferocious attacks that unites the two families against a mysterious creature from under the ice.
HYPOTHERMIA is one of the handful of films Fessenden and his Glass Eye Pix team are producing in conjunction with Dark Sky. One of the others, Jim Mickle’s STAKE LAND, wrapped late last year and will come out at some point this year. (Look for my set visit article closer to its release.) Both HYPOTHERMIA and STAKE LAND are slated to open theatrically.
