Could you handle a Michael Bay film in 3D? Transformers 3 might be the test!

I suppose this was pretty much a given. Variety is reporting that Paramount is debating whether or not to make TRANSFORMERS film in 3D. And sure it would make sense – call it TRANSFORMERS 3D and you have yourself a teaser poster. Or just TF3D. With an image of Bumblebee wearing glasses and giving you a thumbs up.

The one predicament is that the flick already has a JULY 1, 2011 release date set and obviously adding 3D to the mix would shift the whole project into a different gear. Pre-production has already begun, the script is being written (by Ehren Kruger), and tossing 3D into the mix would only add to the heavy lifting Bay and Co. have to do. As of right now, it’s not confirmed that they’re going this route…

What no one is considering, yet, is what effect a Michael Bay film in 3D would have on the average moviegoer. Seizures? Heart attacks? A flat-out murdering of the senses? Sure the scenes of Megan Fox bending over the hood of a car would be greatly improved, but all that crashing, crunching, dizzying robot fighting, combined with Bay’s rat-a-tat editing style, would likely be grueling hell on the brains of the audience.
