Back at the beginning of December we learned that Jimmy Hayward’s JONAH HEX was heading to the land of re-shoots and that I AM LEGEND director Francis Lawrence would be lending his expertise. Not only has this news been confirmed but we’ve also got star Will Arnett talking up HEX like there’s no tomorrow!
The Hollywood Reporter’s Heat Vision blog has a very detailed rundown of these re-shoots and has confirmed that Lawrence will be on board as a ‘consultant.’ Worry not though, Hayward is still the guy in the director’s chair for the re-shoots. Josh Brolin, John Malkovich, Megan Fox (below) and Michael Fassbender are all returning to work for a 10-day shoot in Los Angeles that’ll include 12 pages of additional script along with re-shooting some scenes to include more ‘story and action.’ Alright then, that doesn’t sound too bad does it? One opinion is that these scenes will up the ‘blockbuster’ appeal to make it a viable contender against other Summer blockbusters… Hmmm…
In other JONAH HEX news, star Will Arnett decided to sit down with the guys over at SuperheroHype and talk a bit about the film:
“‘Jonah Hex’ is a very kind of heavy movie. It’s dark and actioney… [A] real fun, dark, sweaty movie.”
Wow. It’s surprising to see an actor talk so highly about a film they’re in…. Yeah. Considering I’m a huge fan of Arnett (best comic actor in the business), I’d love to believe him here. But unfortunately I have to take what he says with a grain of salt. I mean if the movie sucked it’s not like Arnett would run around saying that… of course he’s going to talk this thing up!
