Oh Nicolas Cage… what happened man? It seems Cage has resorted to being nothing more than a bad hair joke. There was a time when the guy was walking around winning Academy Awards and making badass movies you know… Maybe that time will come again. But unfortunately I don’t think it will be in GHOST RIDER 2. Alas though… Cage and company are bringing us a sequel!
Now Collider had a chance to sit down with producer Mike De Luca and talked about a number of projects including METAL GEAR SOLID, FRIGHT NIGHT, DRACULA YEAR ZERO and of course, GHOST RIDER 2, which is what we’re here to talk about today! The main piece of info De Luca lets loose on the sequel is that it might just have it’s subtitle: GHOST RIDER: SPIRIT OF VENGEANCE. Alright then… Kind of long for a comic book movie title but it definitely fits the Ghost Rider background. This title isn’t final though and is of course subject to change. Here’s some of the other details De Luca let loose on the sequel:
– Mark Steven Johnson is not directing the sequel
– Eva Mendes will not return as Roxanne Simpson
– Ghost Rider 2 (or Ghost Rider Spirit of Vengeance) will be a hard PG-13
– The film is going to take place in Europe
– De Luca is open to David Goyer directing the sequel but it all comes down to his very busy schedule
– Says the sequel will be like “pushing the reset button” on the franchise
– As you might expect from the success of Avatar, Ghost Rider 2 might be done in 3D
– Says Goyer has just delivered his updated outline to the studio
– And says Ghost Rider 2 could be in front of the cameras this year
