We’re you bummed to learn HANCOCK and THE KINGDOM director Peter Berg lost hold on a remake of Frank Herbert’s DUNE (a flick brought to life in 1984 by the master of the surreal, Mr. David Lynch)? Well, if you saw last year’s revenge thriller TAKEN, y’all should rest a bit easier knowing Pierre Morel has picked up the reins.
It’s looking official, folks. EW has reported the French filmmaker has indeed been tapped to direct the sci-fi epic, with “plans to make a very faithful adaptation of the 1965 Frank Herbert book.”
EW continues: “the studio (Paramount) is currently looking for a new writer to incorporate Morel’s vision of the project into the original draft by QUANTUM OF SOLACE scribe Josh Zetumer.”
Morel also directed the Luc Besson co-written DISTRICT 13 (2004), and recently completed the action flick FROM PARIS WITH LOVE.
