Sometimes a strong movie gets the shaft as to its distribution (100 FEET
anyone?), being put out fairly unnoticed when it deserved so much more. That was the case with
CARRIERS; a pretty tight film directed by
ALEX and DAVID PASTOR, starring CHRIS PINE and
hottie PIPER PERABO. I was lucky enough to see this badass “peeps must survive a
virus in a post apocalyptic world” opus on the big screen via the
2009 SITGES FILM FESTIVAL. With only a couple of hours of sleep on my side, the
movie kept me awake and involved via its potent storyline, powerful directing/editing style,
emotionally charged demeanor and finer than red wine on a hooker’s ass acting.
When I got back to North America, I was bummed to see that it didn’t
get a proper release (limited for the birds in September). Thankfully, the film will finally get a wide
release, on DVD come December 29, 2009 and I urge you all to see it. Its not
perfect by any means, more of a drama than a horror film, but still superior to
most of the shit that hits the big screen. To get my full thoughts on it, read
