Samuel Bayer’s A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET is finding a torn audience in the genre community. The film has undoubtedly been on a roller coaster since it was announced. First fans were outraged at a remake of Wes Craven’s classic film. Then fans were thinking about rioting when it was announced Robert Englund wouldn’t be reprising the iconic role of Freddy Krueger. But then we finally saw some footage from the film… and for the most part things were looking up. Until today that is…
You see the guys over at CHUD got the scoop that Platinum Dunes’ A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET is currently undergoing reshoots. Oh man… it felt like I just said a bad word. CHUD reports that these reshoots came about after a batch of not-so-stellar screenings of NIGHTMARE in LA. Now it’s no secret that when a film heads in for reshoots… it’s not a very good sign. Then again this could mean absolutely nothing. Maybe Bayer and company just felt like they needed to add a couple things in? Who knows.
Apparently the reshoots are some brand new scenes with new cast and everything. So maybe this isn’t exactly a bad thing? What do you guys think? Anyone out there looking forward to NIGHTMARE thrown off by this announcement? Does it really matter? Unfortunately we don’t know the rhyme or reason to these reshoots but they are happening. The film stars Rooney Mara, Kyle Gallner, Katie Cassidy (below), Thomas Dekker, Kellan Lutz, Connie Britton and Jackie Earle Haley as Freddy Krueger. We all get to find out if A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET ends up being awesome or horrible on April 30th.
