I think it’s entirely safe to say Sam Raimi’s THE EVIL DEAD is awesome. Now when I say awesome…. I’m talking epically awesome. Personally I dug EVIL DEAD 2 a lot more and find that to be a ‘perfect’ horror flick… But in no way am I taking away from the prestige fo THE EVIL DEAD.
Now that I’m done talking that shite up how would you feel if I told you there might be a chance you can catch Sam Raimi’s THE EVIL DEAD on the big screen during a midnight showing? Oh yeah I’ve got your attention. F*ck THE ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW… I’d take THE EVIL DEAD anyday!
Grindhouse Releasing seem to agree with me because they’re working on getting THE EVIL DEAD into theaters across the country for midnight showings! Raimi, Bruce Campbell and Robert Tapert are all involved in the re-release and have all given their ‘Oks.’ Now above you’ll find a brand new one sheet to celebrate this event and below you’ll find the cities and theaters already announced to be participating. Do you see one of your local theaters? You lucky bastard…
Here’s a quote from The Chin himself: “Nothing can prepare an audience for what they are about to see, because nothing punishes an audience like EVIL DEAD – especially on the big screen. I’m really glad it’s back. People are gonna be hurt.”
I hope so Bruce. I get the feeling this event will also play a major factor in deciding how fast an EVIL DEAD remake and/or EVIL DEAD IV (I can hope…) will head our way. Plans are to eventually have some screenings in Canada as well but nothing has been announced yet. We’ll be keeping our ears and eyes open for any new updates or cities added to the list but here’s the screenings that’ve been confirmed:
