Well here’s a flick I thought I’d never see… What would you say if I told you we’d be seeing a movie where a nice and respectable 50 Cent drinks a potion and turns into a wicked violent Forest Whitaker? No, that’s not the stuff I was just smoking!
This absurd idea actually comes from Variety and is actually happening! As you could’ve guessed we’ll be getting a retelling of the classic Robert Louis Stevenson’s tale THE STRANGE CASE OF DR. JEKYLL AND MR. HYDE starring Curtis ’50 Cent’ Jackson and Academy Award winner Forest Whitaker. Funnily enough Whitaker’s role in THE EXPENDABLES was eventually given to Jackson who later turned the role over to Terry Crews. Think the duo ducked out of EXPENDABLES for this flick?
The movie, deamed JEKYLL AND HYDE, follows a doctor who invents a potion that unleashes his violent alter ego. The flick comes from producers Brett Walsh of Glasshouse Pictures and Cheetah Vision Films’ Randall Emmett. Executive producing will be Luc Roeg, Michael Robinson and Andrew Orr of Independent along with Sean Walsh, Bonnie Timmermann and Chris Lighty. Abel Ferrara is set to direct. Roeg adds:
“The combination of such formidable talent in front of and behind the camera will turn this wonderful gothic story into a modern classic for a whole new generation.”
Lensing is set to start late this Summer so keep it here for updates as we hear them!
