Stills Run Red

THE HILLS RUN RED seems to have caught some positive buzz wherever it’s landed and it looks like it’s heading to the West Coast to see what it can do there! But before I get into that I’m here to throw a few new stills from the flick out! Well at least they’re new to me. There’s three of them making the rounds on the net so just scope those out above and below.

Well these stills are pretty damn exciting… not. Yes, I just used a ‘…. not’ joke. It worked too. Anyway the stills are actually pretty damn boring! Sure we’ve got some hot ‘hand-over-mouth’ action going on above but below we’ve got some dude processing film and then a couple guys chatting while one sweats profusely. Upon further study though I see the bottom two stills aren’t entirely boring. Actually that last shot looks like we got some intense stuff going on!

Ok now that you’ve studied the stills you’re probably asking yourself what the hell is THE HILLS RUN RED. Guess I should’ve answered that first. Here’s the rundown: Tyler is a film student obsessed with the infamous slasher film The Hills Run Red. No known print of the film exists, only a grainy trailer on the internet, and the director Wilson Wyler Concannon disappeared shortly after the only public screening of his lost masterpiece. Having spent the last few years of his life searching for any bits of footage or persons connected to the film, he finally discovers the whereabouts of the director’s daughter, Alexa, the only surviving person with any connection to the original production. Traumatized from being on-set, she is reluctant to revisit her experiences. Eventually Tyler compels her to guide him and his documentary film crew into the backwoods where the film was shot. However, once there, they realize too late that the film’s principal photography never ended. While the concept of a horror film within a horror film might sound played out, director Dave Parker eschews the postmodern, self-reflexive winks inherent in his set-up—knowing you’re in a horror film won’t help you, it just makes everything much more terrifying.

That sounds awesome. Definitely got an original feel going here with some slasher mixed in. I’m definitely down! THE HILLS RUN RED comes from director Dave Parker with a script from David J. Schow, John Carchietta and John Dombrow. Sophie Monk, Tad Hilgenbrinck, and William Sadler are set to star. THE HILLS RUN RED is all geared up to screen at the Seattle International Film Festival on June 14th with tickets already on sale right over here. Keep on the lookout for any other HILLS RUN RED news as we hear it!
