According to THR, Universal Pictures and Guillermo del Toro are teaming up once again to bring us another adventure into the horror fantasies of little girls with MAMA, much like they did with THE ORPHANAGE.
To be directed by Andy Muschietti, based on his short film (along with Barbara Muschietti) of the same name, MAMA sounds weird, bizarre, creepy, and everything you’d expect from del Toro, who will be on board as producer. Here’s just a little taste of what this sucker’s about: two girls, Victoria and Lily, are on the run from a ghostly woman who appears to be their mother in a Gothic home… It ends with the mother apparently vanquished – but one of the girls is turned into a ghoul.
Yes folks, they gave you the ending right there… or is it just the beginning? Nobody knows at this point, but hot damn, does that sound freakin’ weird! But, you know, in a totally cool way.
Word on the street is that MAMA will begin filming in New Zealand next year. Until then, stick around for more cool shite on MAMA as we hear it!
