The upcoming remake of George A. Romero’s THE CRAZIES was initially going to debut in late September for our fall viewing pleasure, a time when even the mildest (or, in this case, craziest) horror flicks succeed. But some time has gone by, My Man Eric visited the set a few weeks back (CHECK IT), and now… THE CRAZIES has been officially pushed back!

That’s right folks, no more September 25th release–instead, you can look forward to a February 26th 2010 release! Yikes! Almost 5 months to the day later than it’s originally scheduled date, some might say it will allow them to perfect the film even more (all that extra time), while others will more accurately point out that February is good dumping grounds when it comes to genre flicks. But everyone can agree that pushing a release date back is generally never a good sign.

There’s speculation the push is a result of Overture Film’s financial struggle (they’re struggling like the rest of us), but other than that and the other theories above, there’s no official word as to the hefty push back.

Briefly, THE CRAZIES is is about the inhabitants of a small Iowa town
suddenly plagued by insanity and then death after a mysterious toxin
contaminates their water supply.
Look for it in February, and be sure to check out the rest of My Man Eric’s visit to the set by heading THIS WAY.
