I’ve been reading a lot about this silly PRIDE AND PREJUDICE AND ZOMBIES book that’s out now – mostly good things, but I’m still pretty certain I’m not going to pick it up. (Shit, I still haven’t read the original PRIDE AND PREJUDICE, and it sure doesn’t look like that’s happening anytime soon.) Of course, I’ve been reading about it a lot because it’s set to become a movie (read our article about it HERE), with Natalie Portman rumored to be attached. (And as we all know, the movies are always better than the books.) So author Seth Grahame-Smith, who wrote P&P&Z based on an assignment, is enjoying a surprising success story – and it doesn’t appear ready to end.
According to Publisher’s Weekly, Grahame-Smith has just signed a two-book deal with Publishing house Grand Central Press, and you’ll never guess what his first job is. Okay, maybe you guessed by reading the title of this article: ABRAHAM LINCOLN: VAMPIRE HUNTER.
According to the site, the story is a loose sketch of Lincoln’s life with one twist–honest Abe is the world’s most skilled vampire hunter.
Of course, this could end up being as flat as a pancake – really broad horror-comedy rarely works. But with a title like that, it’s hard not to think of the absurd, naughty (and certainly un-PC) possibilities. It’s too early as of now to predict if a film deal will be struck, but I’d love it if Liam Neeson tackled Honest Abe in this incarnation as opposed to Spielberg’s proposed biopic.
