While looking into this whole TERROR TRAIN business (HERE), I stumbled across a flick that sounded familiar — SLAUGHTER, written by Nathan Brookes and Bobby Lee Darby. We told you about this flick back in 2007, when we heard it was about to go into production (check out that story HERE), and yet here we are in 2009, and still no SLAUGHTER. What gives?
Not really sure, but over at the Freefall Films website, SLAUGHTER is posted as a project in the works, with Victor Garcia attached to direct, and Shawnee Smith & Cary Tagawa in talks to star, all of which we knew from the earlier report. So what’s the update?
According to the site, production is set to begin in August — as in, this August! Finally! While details of the detail haven’t been reported yet, one can only speculate on what’s been going on. Lack of funding? Script issues? Talent scheduling conflicts? All likely issues. But now it looks like we may even see this film someday soon. Cool!
As a recap, SLAUGHTER goes a little something like this: Four newbie actors get cast in the horror film of their dreams, but it turns out to be a nightmare when the film merges into non-fiction.
