Straw Man trailer

Just last week, I gave you guys a couple of images from the isolated/apocalypse horror STRAW MAN. And as luck would have it, today I’ve got the first trailer for all to perceive. Oh yeah, I posted it right below, of course. And yes, I do think you should check it out! There’s some hauntingly brilliant imagery on display here. And the shots of “straw people” sure are creepy. It’s pretty easy to see how a man could go crazy from this (and star, Leslie Simpson, definitely does delve diligently into nutso). There’s even an odd possible homage to HAMLET (not that any of us care especially much about Shakespeare). Anyways, I’ll give you the plot synopsis once more:

One man, a lone soul is the last of an empty world. To combat the loneliness of isolation he surrounds himself with people made out of straw, hand-crafted and molded from faded memories of friends and family. They offer little in the way of company yet they hold insanity at bay.

This Lone Man is a contradiction, his rambling thoughts battling against his need for structure and routine. In his quest for normality he spends each day teaching pupils, reading to them from the classics as they stare back at him with blank, featureless faces. But when the line between reality and fantasy is blurred by madness his ordered life is sent into a downward spiral.

Why do the straw people stare at him with blind judgment?

What are the children trying to tell him?

Who is the beautiful woman who has shown up out of nowhere… and does she offer salvation or death?

My curiosity is definitely heightened about this STRAW MAN. Hopefully we’ll be hearing some sort of chatter about a release date soon. Director Andrew Barker (who co-wrote the script with Garry Charles) seems to have a good shot at making a name for himself with his very first flick. In addition to Leslie Simpson, the cast also includes Axelle Carolyn who certainly lives up to her role as the “Beautiful Woman”.
