Earlier this week we showed you Icons of Fright‘s breakdown of how f*cked up Magnolia treated the subtitles for the DVD / Blu-Ray release of LET THE RIGHT ONE IN (check that shit out HERE). Today points are given to Icons, as their post prompted many fans to voice their opinions and demand the theatrical version of the subtitles on DVD… and Magnolia has complied!
That’s right folks, complain enough, create enough uproar, and show enough blood and gritted teeth, and your opinions will be heard. Magnolia released this statement regarding their plans for a reissue: We are listening to the fans feedback, and going forward we will be manufacturing the discs with the subtitles from the theatrical version. [But] there are no exchanges [for those who purcahsed the messed up version]. We are going to make an alternate version available however. For those that wish to purchase a version with the theatrical subtitles, it will be called out in the tech specs box at the back/bottom of the package where it will list SUBTITLES: ENGLISH (Theatrical), SPANISH.
Nice! While it sucks that you’re shit out of luck if you purchased the previously released DVD / Blu-Ray version of the film, it’s awesome that they listened to fans and are doing something to rectify their f*ck up. Very cool.
