Way back in July I told you all how Eric Powell’s comic THE GOON was on it’s way to the big screen in CGI form with David Fincher producing! Well one of the fears at the time was that Fincher has been known to pick up comic property and let it sit on a shelf in the past, luckily that isn’t the case with THE GOON!
How do I know? Well Ain’t It Cool News just threw up the first official pic from the movie and it looks awesome! Get a glimpse of the pic below and an early poster to the right, just click through on either one to check out full, larger shots over at AICN.
Are you as impressed as I am? From one still! That looks pretty damn impressive. Most likely that’s because award winning studio BLUR are the ones behind bringing this one into CGI form. THE GOON is a muscle-bound brawler who claims to be the primary enforcer for the feared mobster Labrazio. The Goon (and his sidekick Franky) often get tied up in other machinations, often in relation to the evil zombie gangs under the command of the Nameless Zombie Priest. Awesome. I hear nothing but good things about the comics so this film has the potential to be awesome.
All we know about THE GOON is that Fincher is producing, BLUR and Dark Horse Entertainement are the ones behind the film, and Eric Powell penned the script. Plus the awesome still and stand-up seen here. We’ll keep a lookout for any other GOON news and will update you all once we hear more.
