I don’t normally condone remakes because I feel there are enough original ideas out there that would make great movies and there’s really no need to keep telling the same story over and over again. But… when the remake is set to star a couple of hotties, and it’s based on an original that I’ve never seen, I gotta admit… I’m pretty flippin’ excited for it!
The Hollywood Reporter announced this morning that hotties Amber Heard (ALL THE BOYS LOVE MANDY LANE and Odette Yustman (THE UNBORN) have signed on to star in AND SOON THE DARKNESS, a remake of a 1970 British thriller of the same name.
To be directed by commercial director Marcos Efron and co-produced by Heard (his first feature film, and her first time producing, no less), DARKNESS goes a little something like this: Set in Argentina, the film tells the story of two American girls on a bike-riding trip in a remote part of the country. When one of them goes missing, the other must find her before darkness falls and her worst fears are realized.
Hard to tell if this will be going the TURISTAS route, or somewhere entirely different. They’re definitely taking the fear of being lost and the fear of the dark to whole new levels here, which is great. Honestly, the story could be about two chicks taking a walk and I’d be there because, let’s face it, Heard and Yustman are both f*cking hot as hell. It’s just icing on the cake that they’re going to be in a thriller like this.
Filming is set to be on location in Argentina a little later this year. Stick around for more updates on AND SOON THE DARKNESS as we hear it!
