One of my favorite book series as a kid, and even today really, are the adventures of THE HARDY BOYS. Easy reading, high adventure, somewhat interesting mystery… I’ve always had fun blasting through one of their adventures. Now imagine the Hardy’s were monsters, and you have yourselves THE GHOULY BOYS, a children’s comic that ‘s now coming to the big screen!
Not until 5 minutes ago have I ever heard of THE GHOULY BOYS, but you know what… I’m intrigued. From what I gather, GHOULY goes like this: a quartet of young monster outcasts and their efforts to fit in, follow two friends — a young boy looking to contact his dead father and a young zombie seeking a way to come back to life — who set off on an adventure.
Sounjds like it could be kinda cool, no? Yeah, it’s for kids and all, but after MONSTER HOUSE, I’ve learned that there’s a way to make a ghoulish movie for kids and have it be entertaining for adults, so we’ll see what happens here.
Sam Esmail has been hired to adapt the comic originally written and drawn by the single-named artist Christopher (Higginson). No word on whether this beast will be animated or live action, from the sounds of the general storyline, it could go either way.
