Carpenter’s Ward

It looks like the great John Carpenter is at it again! The Hollywood Reporter dropped the good word today that Carpenter would be returning to the director’s chair with a psychological ghost story!

The film will be called THE WARD and will follow the disturbing experience of a young woman in an institution who is terrorized by a ghost. Works for me! That sounds like it may be right down Carpenter’s alley! Now Carpenter is one of my all time favorite directors, so needless to say I’m stoked for this news!

The film already has a star in the absolutely gorgeous Amber Heard. Heard (below) will play the lead role. The duo of Michael and Shawn Rasmussen penned the script with Doug Mankoff, Mike Marcus and Andy Spaulding of Echo Lake Entertainment producing and Peter Block of A Bigger Boat co-financing and producing with Echo Lake. Carpenter had the following to say regarding THE WARD:

“The Ward’ is the kind of script that I’ve been looking for: a complex, visceral story, full of suspense and scares.”

If Carpenter (above) is for it, I’m for it. Obviously THE WARD is heading our way thanks to Echo Lake Entertainment. They’re looking to start shooting in May. That’s all we’ve got thus far for THE WARD, but keep it here for any more updates as we hear them!
