You know there’s a Direct-to-DVD AMITYVILLE HORROR sequel coming out. Even if you didn’t see the announcement, you’ve got to assume it was in the works. What franchsie doesn’t have a film in the works right now? Exactly.
Well today we’ve got a big update on the AMITYVILLE sequel hidden deep within another story over at The Hollywood Reporter. Said story is that THIRTEEN GHOSTS & HELLRAISER: DEADER scribe Neal Marshall Stevens was signed by comic book company Studio 407 to pen a couple comics. One of the comics is HAVOC BRIGADE and is described as a ‘futuristic action-thriller’ while the other comic is more along the lines of ‘horror-adventure’ and is called DEMON SQUAD.
After that announcement it’s casually mentioned that Stevens’ previous scripts include the said GHOSTS and DEADER along with AMITYVILLE TAPES. So there you have it folks. The next installment in the ongoing AMITYVILLE franchise will be called AMITYVILLE TAPES. It makes sense considering it’s already been announced they’re going with more of a ‘TV Show recording-the-dead’ vibe with this next film. It’s been described as being along the lines of the TV show GHOST HUNTERS. Well that show is awesome, so that’s A-OK in my book!
So the next installment of the AMITYVILLE franchise is called AMITYVILLE TAPES and will follow along the lines of GHOST HUNTERS, so I’m assuming someone attempts to investigate the haunted house using various equipment. Keep it here for any and all AMITYVILLE updates as we hear them.
