It’s time to “wolf-out” with a pack of savage HYENAS (and I don’t think they’re the laughing kind). This is a new creature flick from director Eric Weston (EVILSPEAK) and it’s looking to take a big ol’ bite out of the werewolf genre. I think this may not be so hard seeing as how it’s got genre A-listers Costas Mandylor (SAW series) and Christa Campbell (2001 MANIACS) as the stars. Here is how Weston describes what HYENAS is about:
“The story claims that there are several packs of these ‘were-hyenas’ roaming around the United States. They travel from place to place, finding people to eat. In our film, a man called Gannon, played by Costas, is out to get his revenge on the beasts that killed his wife and child. However, there is a nice amount of tongue-in-cheek humor in HYENAS; it has quite a lighthearted feel.”
Wow, so maybe they are laughing HYENAS. Either way, it sounds like Weston is on to something pretty fun here. It can never hurt having the beautiful Ms. Campbell on board. That pic of her up top during filming of the flick looks quite nice. And I can almost guarantee that there will be a big quote at the top of HYENAS’ DVD cover saying something like, “Starring the man from SAW!” which will most likely garner a larger number of renters than usual.
The rest of the cast includes Joshua Alba, Christina Murphy, Rudolf Martin, Meshach Taylor, Andrew James Allen, Bar Paly, Mike Rad, and Aldo Gonzalez. No word yet on a precise release date.
