Shadow Chron. Comic

I came across a sweet looking comic series today called SHADOW CHRONICLES. What’s this bad boy about?

It’s basically a collection of three seperate horror tales. THE NIGHT PROJECTIONIST – NETHERWORLD – DEMON SQUAD. Fair enough, all good so far. Here’s a bit on each story.

DEMON SQUAD: Deep in America’s heartland, evil is lurking and waiting. Demons prey on gullible and unsuspecting teenagers whose fears and insecurities draw these soul suckers to them like moths to a flame. When a paranormal infestation leads to a suicide epidemic in a small town, the Demon Squad is sent it to wipe out the supernatural plague — although they may bust a few heads along the way. Led by the gruff, take-no-prisoners Dr. Facchio, the Demon Squad is a rag tag team of scientists, mercenaries, and mystics who are the frontline between us and the bloodsucking monsters of the night.

Alright. Although it doesn’t jump out at me and punch me in the face, DEMON SQUAD doesn’t sound half bad. Apparently this group of soldiers are pretty vicious, rivaling the undead in terms of terrorizing the town. Could be something.

NETHERWORLD: On a distant planet, a team of specialists investigate the mysterious remains of an alien civilization brought to the brink of extinction. Dead alien bodies litter the streets of a massive city of an once majestic, extraterrestrial culture still strange and foreign to them. As the team unravels the enigma surrounding this cataclysmic event, they discover the planet’s horrible secret.

Now at first glance NETHERWORLD didn’t catch my eye at all, but reading that plot it doesn’t sound half bad. It’d be cool seeing this dead alien civilization. Guess this one all depends on how horrible the secret actually is. And lastly, my favorite of the stories.

THE NIGHT PROJECTIONIST: Crosstown Falls. Halloween Eve. It’s the last night of the condemned town theater, which is closing with an all night Draculathon. But the small group of moviegoers suddenly find themselves trapped inside when the theater is surrounded by a horde of vampires. A deadly siege begins, and the moviegoers soon make the terrifying discovery that the night projectionist is also a member of the coven. Is he friend or foe? The Night Projectionist is a no-holds-barred, bone-chilling tale of blood and revenge.

Now that sounds awesome! Definitely the top bill of SHADOW CHRONICLES in my opinion. Sure it’s not entirely original and we’ve seen the whole ‘small group of people trapped’ scenario many times, but it seems like NIGHT PROJECTIONIST has enough to stand alone.

So there you have it. Not bad right? You can read up more on SHADOW CHRONICLES over at the official website. On the site you can also scope out some more stills and previews from the comics like the one below.

Robert Heske and Diego Yapura are the duo behind NIGHT PROJECTIONIST, Chad Jones and R.B. Silva are behind NETHERWORLD and Neil Marshall Stevens and Rafael Ortiz bring us DEMON SQUAD. SHADOW CHRONICLES is heading our way courtesy of Studio 407 on January 21.
