It seems that the geniuses behind all the latest HALLOWEEN comics just won’t stop! And I love it! First we got to enjoy the 30TH ANNIVERSARY SPECIAL, then Issue One of THE FIRST DEATH OF LAURIE STRODE (look for my review of Issue Two soon). And now, we have yet another burst of creative Myers-inspired storytelling coming our way early next year with… HALLOWEEN: THE MARK OF THE THORN (cover artwork is up top and below).
Yes, it looks like the arguably “shark-jumping” plotline of parts 4 through 6 in the film series is getting a shot at some artistic redemption. I’ll admit that I wasn’t the biggest fan of the whole “thorn curse” shift in the narrative, but that may be because of the uninspired way it was handled. HALLOWEENs 4 through 6 didn’t completely suck either, but would probably have been better if the storyline was a bit more polished. That’s why I’m jazzed about this new comic version coming courtesy of HALLOWEEN comic veterans, Stef Hutchinson and Jeff Katz. They have already proven themselves superior storytellers, which makes me confident that “thorn” will be getting the proper treatment. For further proof, check out the MARK OF THORN synopsis:

Many years have passed, and now Tommy Doyle is a happily married comic book writer and artist living in Salt Lake City. Yeah, I like that! The new series is supposed to release in February 2009. I’ll be keeping my eyes open for any further updates.
