Well it seems January’s After Dark Horrorfest is set! Today the last film of the Horrorfest was announced over at ShockTillYouDrop. You ready for it? VOICES.
The Korean film VOICES, previously known as SOMEONE BEHIND YOU, has secured the last spot of the 8 Films to Die For. There’s a bit to this one, so stay with me. The film is based off the comic by Kang Kyung-ok. It’s directed by Ki-hwan Oh and stars Jin-seo Yun, Ki-Woo Lee, and Gi-woong Park. Moo Ryung Kim produced. Here’s the synopsis STYD gives: The story tells of a young woman who believes she is cursed after having many of her family and friends die in the most brutal ways imaginable. She must discover the mystery behind these killings before she too becomes a victim. Now that sounds fun! Courtney Solomon, CEO of After Dark Films, had the following to say:
“I was blown away by the film. When I look at non-English speaking films for our Horrorfest series, they are scrutinized more heavily because we need to make sure the mainstream horror audience is going to enjoy them. I think it’s safe to say that we’ve found a film that is gorgeous, intriguing and has a ton of crossover appeal. I couldn’t be more pleased.”
Now sure, it’s Solomon’s job to plug the Horrorfest any and everyway possible… but that’s still some very intriguing comments. I’m definitely down for checking this one out. VOICES joins PERKINS’ 14, SLAUGHTER, THE BROKEN, BUTTERFLY EFFECT 3: REVELATIONS, FROM WITHIN, DYING BREED, and AUTOPSY as the 8 Films to Die For in After Dark Films’ Horrorfest. The fest is set to run January 9th through to January 15th.
