Just the other day it was confirmed that Brett Ratner would in fact be directing CONAN. But wait just a minute…
Ratner recently told the LA Times that he’s not even officially signed for CONAN, and that BEVERLY HILLS COP 4 is next on his plate. He’s actually pretty damn pissed that producer Avi Lerner made this announcement before any deal was done. Here’s what he told the LA Times:
“Let me make this very clear. I am not doing ‘Conan’ now. This is totally premature. For now, ‘Conan’ is only a development deal. I have a deal at Paramount and I’m doing ‘Beverly Hills Cop’ first, no matter what. Avi shouldn’t be telling you or anyone else in the press what I’m doing.”
Ouch. What does this mean? Does it mean Paramount might be iffy on Ratner tackling COP 4 now? Or maybe Ratner is so pissed that he’s thinking of pulling out of CONAN? As of right now the man behind the RUSH HOUR films is down for both films, with COP 4 obviously coming first. We’ll bring you any updates on CONAN as we hear them.
