2001 MANIACS is a little genre flick that a lot of people found to be highly enjoyable. I myself haven’t seen it yet, but I have it sitting on my shelf begging to be watched. Now if your a fan of the film, no doubt you’ve been keeping up to date on it’s sequel news. The last we told you, 2001 MANIACS: BEVERLY HELLBILLYS was just waiting on dotting the Is and crossing the Ts before things got underway… but that was back in August. So what happened?

Well Variety has some news today regarding both 2001 MANIACS sequels. Yes, that means two of them! IM Global Home Entertainement have just scored the rights to both 2001 MANIACS: BEVERLY HELLBILLYS and 2001 MANIACS: THE HILLBILLYS HAVE EYES. To my knowledge this is the first we’re hearing on the second sequel: THE HILLBILLYS HAVE EYES.

Tim Sullivan remains the sole mind behind the franchise, set to write and direct both sequels. Martin Shore and Christopher Tuffin are set to produce the two films via their horror arm BloodWorks. The only other news we’re given is that Robert Englund is set to return as Mayor Buckman. Previous reports have both Lin Shaye and the gorgeous Milkmaid Christa Campbell (below) also returning.

So hopefully this news will get things rolling again in the town of Pleasant Valley soon. As soon as we hear any more updates we’ll pass them along.
