In other sequel news, we’ve got a little more insight into the UNDERWORLD series from a reliable and lusciously gorgeous source: Ms. Kate Beckinsale. During a recent interview, the lovely Selene was asked her thoughts regarding the Vampires vs. Lycans saga, which will see its third entry, UNDERWORLD: RISE OF THE LYCANS, hit theaters this January. Although she isn’t appearing in part 3, Kate was still able to provide some answers, seeing as how her husband, Len Wiseman, directed the first two and is serving as co-writer and producer for RISE. Here is what she said regarding the continuation of the series as well as a possible return of Selene:
“I think they’re still going, they probably will. I’m not sure I will. I feel like I’ve played that character enough times that I don’t think I’d be excited to play the same character again. It’s a weird experience. I’ve never done that before, you’re playing the same character in two movies, and after two, I feel like I’m kind of done with that.”
Okay, so I guess that amounts to a “good news/bad news” scenario for UNDERWORLD fans. The series has a shot at continuing, but we’ll never get a chance to see Kate in her skin-tight black leather outfit anymore. Well, at least we still have Rhona Mitra (below) for now. I’ve never been a huge fan of the series, but the trailer for RISE OF THE LYCANS does look pretty action-packed. Well know for sure on January 23rd 2009.
