Just yesterday we got a look at Brad Pitt as Lt. Aldo Raine, Quentin Tarantino’s newest badass. Well it looks like Pitt’s going to be a very busy man seeing how Variety dropped word on another movie Pitt is involved with.
The movie I’m talking about is THE ODYSSEY. Yes, that ODYSSEY. That insane story we were all forced to read in our schooling years. Actually I loved THE ODYSSEY. Everything and anything about that novel had me wrapped around it’s little finger. In case your from another world and don’t know what THE ODYSSEY is, it follows Odysseus as he partakes on a journey spanning years that has him crossing paths with Trojan Horses, Cyclopses, deceiving Sirens, and even Hades himself. Needless to say it’s a pretty epic adventure… and now Brad Pitt might be tackling it!
Well I’m getting ahead of myself. First let me tell you all the only bit of bad news about this one… apparently the filmmakers plan on updating the age old story, setting it in outer space at a more futuristic time. I’m pretty sure that’s WTF territory. Why not just adapt another film based directly on THE ODYSSEY? I’d definately be in line to see it.
That’s not all though, Pitt and Warner Bros. are also teaming with George Miller for this film. Warner Bros. are banking on Miller to direct and Pitt to star. So what do you think? The whole outer space thing definately has me with a look of disgust… but Brad Pitt can do no wrong in my eyes. And if the story is as immersing as THE ODYSSEY, I’ll give it a shot.
