What you’re seeing here is the latest German poster for this winter’s sci-fi epic / blockbuster hopeful THE DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL (DTESS), featuring a pasting Keanu Reeves and the giant orbe / space ship that lands in Central Park.
I’m not sure if this poster does it for me or not–that said, I do like the earth in Keanu’s eye… that’s pretty cool. Maybe he’s just looking a little too weird for me, or because his giant head seems a little out of place on this poster, or because there’s just too much going on in the background… whatever the cast may be, the simpler, earlier version of the DTESS poster suited me better.
Co-starring Jennifer Connelly, Kathy Bates, Jon Hamm, and Jaden Christopher Smith, and directed by EXORCISM OF EMILY ROSE director Scott Derrickson, DTESS is simple in it’s story: Aliens land on Earth with a message for all humans: live in peace or be destroyed.
Aliens, of course, meaning Reeves and his boxy buddy Gort. I can’t wait to check this puppy out, hopefully the next ‘official’ North American poster is in better shape than this! DTESS hits theaters everywhere December 12th.
