Brolin as Hex?

Back in August we learned that the great Thomas Jane was not cast as the lead role in JONAH HEX, the new comic to film adaptation by Brian Taylor and Mark Neveldine (dudes behind CRANK). Yeah, we were heartbroken, as I’m sure Jane would have done a bang-up job as the Western anti-hero, but that’s all in the past, and now we’re looking to the future.

According to Hollywood-Elsewhere, the great Josh Brolin has been cast as the notorious gunslinger! That’s right, Mr. G.W. Bush in Oliver Stone’s upcoming W will be playing Johna Hex, the horribly scarred confederate gunslinger out for revenge while battling zombies and other such creatures. Kick ass!

I’ve been sold on Brolin since THE GOONIES, and now that he’s making it big again, I’m all for it. PLANET TERROR wouldn’t have been the same without him, and honestly… I can’t wait to see what he’s gonna do with Hex.

That said, take this piece of news with a grain of salt. While the scoop says the deal has been signed, sealed, and delivered, he also points out that Brolin’s rep is not only denying this but claiming Brolin is “not attached”. So is he or isn’t he? We will have to wait for an official announcement to know for sure. I, for one, hope it ends up being true.
