Variety have word today on a new Korean thriller coming from director Kim Han-min. The title is simple and too the point – it’s called THE CELL PHONE.
That’s it. That’s what we’ve got. THE CELL PHONE. I’m all for giving it a chance already. THE CELL PHONE follows an entertainment exec who is intimidated by an anonymous stalker after losing his cell phone.
Alright… I’ve got no idea what to expect from this, but I’ll definately keep my judgement on hold for now. Actually, I think THE CELL PHONE has got some major potential to be a real twisted thriller… least that’s what I’m hoping I guess. And I’ll just go ahead and assume a US remake will be in the works within a couple months… gotta love those remakes.
THE CELL PHONE started lensing this week and is looking to wrap in December, with distribution coming early next year. It stars Uhm Tae-woong and Park Yong-woo. Now obviously I’m all for giving this version of THE CELL PHONE a chance… but dare I say a horror flick about a little killer cell phone that looks like that little fella above might actually be worth watching?
