LG UK does Blitz

Just in case you were getting sick of hearing about yet another remake, here’s a flick that just got the greenlight that isn’t a remake (though it is based on a book–but that’s not really the same thing). The flick’s called BLITZ, and it’s about a serial killer who kills cops. Ooooh–scary!

Lionsgate UK is producing the flick, which is based on the 1994 novel of the same name by Ken Bruen. Just because I know you’re dying to know, here’s the skinny on what it’s about:

The South East London police squad are down and out: Detective Sergeant Brant is in hot water for assaulting a police shrink, Chief Inspector Roberts’ wife has died in a horrific car accident, and WPC Falls is still figuring out how to navigate her job as a black female investigator in the notorious unit. When a serial killer takes his show on the road, things get worse for all three. Nicknamed “The Blitz” by the rabid London media, the killer is aiming for tabloid immortality by killing cops in different beats around the city.

Nathan Parker has been tapped to adapt the flick to the big screen. Once he’s done, then finding a director will be the next step. The premise definitely has the potential to be cool, so it should be interesting to see how this all folds out. I haven’t even heard of the book before now, but now that I know, I’ll probably try and pick it up before the flick is made–maybe you should too.
