Room crush remake

I was at first a tad hesitant to go forth with this “Spanish-to-American remake” story, however after checking out the full synopsis of the flick being remade, I knew it was definitely something worth checking out! Okay, for starters, the original Spanish flick is called LA HABITACION DE FERMAT. Know what that means? Me neither, but I quickly learned that it translates to FERMAT’S ROOM (I doubt that’ll be the exact title of the remake). Anyway, just have a look at the smart, slightly SAW-inspired plot:

Four mathematicians who do not know each other are invited by a mysterious host on the pretext of resolving a great enigma. The room in which they find themselves turns out to be a shrinking room that will crush them if they do not discover in time what connects them all and why someone might wish to murder them.

Sounds like there’s room for loads of potential and some sick, claustrophobic fun. US production company, The Film Department, is currently looking for script writers. The original FERMAT’S was directed by Luis Piedrahita and Rodrigo Sopeña, but there’s no word yet on whether they’re being asked to come back.

Elena Ballesteros stars in the original FERMAT’S ROOM.
