No matter what movie Nicolas Cage is in these days, the only thing I can think of when I see him in anything (besides how ridiculous that hair piece of his looks) is his stellar performance in 2006’s THE WICKER MAN, a ‘horror’ film with more unintentional laughs than scares. You want awful, that movie is so horribly wrong that it’s totally awesome–and yet, Cage still has a rockin’ career, so go figure.
Maybe Cage’s next project will fare a bit better. Variety announced this morning that Cage is teaming up with GONE IN 60 SECONDS director Dominic Sena (who also directed the awesomely dark and disturbing KALIFORNIA) for a new supernatural period piece called SEASON OF THE WITCH. Yes, I said period piece, as the flick goes a little something like this: [WITCH] chronicles the journey of 14th century knights transporting a girl suspected of being the witch responsible for spreading the Black Plague.
You heard it hear first: Cage will be playing a knight in shinning armor… and here I thought nothing could top WICKER MAN! Ok, so maybe it won’t be as hokey as it sounds, or maybe I just don’t like movies set in the time period of knights and witches and whatnot. Either way, the big question is: what kind of ridiculous hair piece will Cage be sporting in this movie?
